The degree in English is designed as an Associate in Arts transfer program. Its purpose is to provide the English major with a strong background in English, specifically, and the Liberal Arts, generally. It may also be selected by the student to build a foundation for a career in law, the ministry, drama, journalism, or to obtain a strong English background for the baccalaureate degree. Each four-year college or university determines which BC3 courses are acceptable in transfer. Students should contact the institution for assurance prior to registering for the course at BC3.

Engage in written and oral discourse surrounding the cultural and literary traditions of English and American literature.
Synthesize emerging ideas from the study of English and American literature.
Apply contextual content found in the English program across curricula.
