BUSN 200 - Labor Relations

Course Description
This course is designed to acquaint the student with labor relations and collective bargaining theories, as well as, the core issues of contract negotiating. Real world issues will be discussed and students will resolve issues both verbally through classroom discussion and practice labor negotiations through interactive simulations.

The student will be able to: 

A. Explain the evolving role of the labor movement. 

B. Identify and explain the bargaining unit process. 

C. Identify unfair labor practices and the laws associated with them. 

D. Explain union job security and seniority. 

E. Explain arbitration, grievance and disciplinary procedures. 

F. Relate union issues to Equal Employment Opportunity laws.

Student Evaluation
