BUSN 213 - Human Resource Management Internship 4 Credits: (12 work hours per week)
Course Description This course is designed to provide students in the Human Resource Management (HRM) program an opportunity to apply occupational competencies through projects or work experience in an actual business organization supervised by the instructor and/or work-site supervisor. The student will spend 168 internship hours at a site involving human resource management.
Note Students may be required by their internship employer to sign a confidentiality agreement and/or pass a criminal background check.
Prerequisite Completion of 45 credits in the program, including BUSN 124, BUSN 128, BUSN 200, BUSN 210, BUSN 212, and BUSN 281, with a 2.5 grade average and instructor permission required.

Objectives The student will be able to:
A. Function as a member of an organization’s human resource management team.
B. Demonstrate human resource competencies in a real life work related atmosphere.
C. Assess their knowledge and abilities within the human resource environment.
D. Utilize equipment appropriate to the Human Resource discipline.
Content Human Resource Management assignments and projects mutually beneficial in meeting both student’s and employer’s objectives.
Student Evaluation Objectives A-D will be evaluated on a combination of employer’s qualitative and quantitative internship evaluation of the student, the student’s written internship report, and the completion of 168 hours of work.
