COMP 272 - Web Site Development Specialist Practicum 3 Credits: (11 work hours per week)
Course Description This course provides advanced students in the Web Site Development Specialist Degree Program practical hands-on experience by observing and working with the various software applications and programming languages used to develop, enhance, maintain and upload web pages. The instructor and immediate supervisor cooperatively direct students on projects. Students will complete a minimum of 165 hours for the practicum experience.
Prerequisite Completion of 45 credits in the program and 18 credits in the major with a “C” average or permission of the instructor.

Objectives The student will be able to:
A. Identify the functions and responsibilities within context of the practicum environment.
B. Apply web design and programming concepts to assigned projects in an actual work environment.
C. Research emerging technology and techniques as related to web site development.
D. Explore website development opportunities in local job markets.
E. Describe the role of the web site developer in the context of the practicum environment.
F. Deliver oral presentations of practicum experiences.

Student Evaluation The student’s final grade will be based upon the completion of practicum work responsibilities, as evaluated by the instructor and supervisor; completion of assigned practicum class responsibilities as evidenced in oral reports, portfolio, and either a weekly informative memo or a journal/blog entries.
