AHEA 280 - Medical Terminology 3 Credits: (3 lecture)
Course Description This course is an introduction to the formation and usage of general medical terminology as it relates to the major body systems. The student will learn how to describe and identify basic medical terms, build medical terms from word parts, use medical terms within an appropriate context, and accurately pronounce and spell words used in the medical language system.

Objectives The student will be able to:
A. Identify word structure used in medical terminology.
B. Combine prefixes and suffixes with root words to form medical terms.
C. Define common medical terms.
D. Define commonly used medical abbreviations.
E. Use a medical dictionary and/or index accurately.
F. Describe medical terminology, including terms that define associated disease processes within a body system.
