BIOL 132 - Human Anatomy and Physiology II 4 Credits: (3 lecture, 3 lab)
Course Description This is the second course in a two-course sequence that investigates cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems of the mammalian body. The focus of this course is on the nervous, cardiovascular, immune, respiratory, digestive, and urinary systems.
Note Dissection is required.
Prerequisite BIOL 131.

Objectives The student will be able to:
A. Identify the structures and functions of tissues of the central and peripheral nervous systems.
B. Outline the motor and sensory pathways of the central nervous system.
C. Describe the anatomy, functions, and regulation of the heart, blood, and blood vessels.
D. Describe the structures, functions, and regulation of the respiratory system.
E. Explain the mechanisms and structures involved in elimination of metabolic waste.
F. Identify specific and non-specific mechanisms that protect the body from disease.
G. Describe the structures, functions, and regulation of the digestive system.
H. Collect and analyze physiological data.

Student Evaluation Assessment of student learning will be based on lecture examinations, laboratory practicals, laboratory activities (including completion of dissecting labs), various in-class and homework assignments, a midterm examination, and a final examination.
