BUSN 124 - Employment Law 3 Credits: (3 lecture)
Course Description This course is designed to acquaint the student with the fundamentals of employment law and discriminatory practices inherent to all areas of employment. The legal procedures for recruiting, hiring, promoting, evaluating, using progressive discipline, and dismissing employees will be emphasized. Antidiscrimination laws, company policies and their relationship to the protected classes will be researched and discussed.

B. Lawsuit procedures and remedies
C. Pay equity and age discrimination
D. Disability laws, workers compensation, ADA, FMLA, and SSDI
E. Employment contracts, torts, and employee privacy rights
F. Wage and hour laws, unemployment and foreign workers issues
Student Evaluation The student’s final grade will be based on a minimum of 4 exams, including a final, and a combination of case write ups, in-class debates, and projects.
