COMM 120 - Professional Digital Photography

3 Credits: (3 lecture)

Course Description
This course introduces the student to the hybrid darkroom. Students will learn to edit and perfect digital photographs while creating saleable digital images and meeting client requirements in a deadline-based environment. 

Note Spring semester only.

Prerequisite COMM 114 or COMM 116. Corequisite: COMM 110.

B. Manipulate and perfect electronic photographic images.  

C. Apply special effects to the photographic image. 

D. Capture and process RAW image files.  

E. Batch process RAW and JPG files. 

F. Prepare professional-quality images for printing.

A. Operation of a digital camera  

B. Professional grade digital cameras 

C. Problems inherent in digital technology 

D. Professional grade computer programs useful for professional digital photography 

E. Creative photographic treatments including micro photography, infrared photography, special effects and constructing photographic panoramas 

F. Output choices and prepress preparation 

G. Archiving digital files to last a century
