COMP 278 - Networking II 3 Credits: (3 lecture)
Course Description This course is a continuation of Networking I (COMP 211) and will prepare students to become network administrators and other networking professionals. Advanced networking concepts will be discussed and networking devices will be configured. Students will take TestOut® Network Pro Certification as the Final Exam.
Note Fall semester only.
Prerequisite COMP 211. Corequisite COMP 277 and COMP 246.

Objectives The student will be able to:
A. Interpret Transport Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) packets using packet sniffers.
B. Configure Internet Protocol (IP) address schemes including subnetting, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and address translation.
C. Describe network storage, virtualization, and cloud computing.
D. Describe Wide Area Network (WAN) and remote connectivity options.
E. Discuss network management, policies, and procedures.
F. Configure network security.
G. Configure network hardware: switches, routers, and firewalls.
H. Use command line utilities to troubleshoot network connectivity.
