DRFT 290 - Practicum For Technologies 3 Credits: (300 work hours per semester)
Course Description A supervised work experience designed to allow the student to grow professionally, to identify strengths and weaknesses, to apply learned theory to practical situations, and to gain an appreciation of the roles, duties, responsibilities, and nature of the work that has been chosen as a career.
Prerequisite Permission of instructor and sophomore standing.

Objectives The student will be able to:
A. To demonstrate knowledge with various management and operational aspects.
B. To engage in a supervised career experience.
C. To prepare for a professional role in the Technology Program of study.
Content A. A required pre-experience orientation session
B. Work experience under the direction of a qualified professional
Student Evaluation A daily journal must be kept; an on-site visit by the academic advisor; final evaluations by professional supervisor; completion of objectives; and oral reports and conversations between advisor and professional manager of the technical area of study.
