EDUC 111 - Academic Skills Prep for Educators 1 Credits: (1 lecture)
Course Description This course provides test preparation for the Pre-service Academic Performance Assessment (PAPA) and the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators required for a state-approved Pennsylvania educator preparation certificate. Instruction focuses on the required level of basic skills in reading, mathematics, and writing in order to qualify for admission to a state-approved Pennsylvania educator preparation program.

Objectives The student will be able to:
A. Identify test objectives and proficiency levels for the Pre-service Academic Performance Assessment (PAPA) and the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators.
B. Classify content-specific sub-area categories for the three PAPA or Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators testing modules aligned with reading, writing, and mathematics.
C. Complete sample questions including answer rationales aligned with PAPA and Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators test objectives to determine test readiness.
D. Create a PAPA and Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators plan of study that includes a personal skills assessment of identified strengths and weaknesses.
E. Cite test-taking strategies in preparation for PAPA or Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators examination day.
F. Evaluate PAPA and Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators test readiness by completing practice examinations and review questions.

Student Evaluation Evaluation for the course will consist of PAPA and Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators practice tests, content quizzes, study plans, and weekly assignments as directed by the instructor.
