ELEC 290 - Practicum for Technologies

2 Credits: (200 work hours per semester)

Course Description
A supervised work experience designed to allow the student to grow professionally, to identify strengths and weaknesses, to apply learned theory to practical situations, and to gain an appreciation of the roles, duties, responsibilities, and nature of the work that has been chosen as a career.

Prerequisite Permission of instructor and sophomore standing.

A. Demonstrate knowledge of operational aspects to various management personnel.

B. Engage in a supervised career experience.

C. Prepare for a professional role in the Technology Program of study.

Content
A. A required pre-experience orientation session.

B. Work experience under the direction of a qualified professional.

Student Evaluation
The objectives will be evaluated as follows: A, B, and C will be evaluated using a journal summarizing the student’s daily duties and accomplishments, the final evaluation done by the student’s professional supervisor, and a final report, written by the student, summarizing the work experience.
