GENL 110 - College Success Skills 3 Credits: (3 lecture)
Course Description This course, designed to assist students in the transition to college life, will provide strategies for success including study skills, textbook reading techniques, note taking methods, and stress and time management skills. Students will develop career plans through the implementation of inventories and assessments, as well as utilization of Internet and software applications. Emphasis is placed on the identification of college resources and policies that can assist students in their academic success.

Objectives The student will be able to:
A. Identify College resources and policies.
B. Discuss stress and time management skills.
C. Evaluate effective strategies for textbook reading, note taking and test taking.
D. Develop an appropriate career plan based on career self-assessment and exploration of the world of work.
E. Utilize a computer word processing software package, as well as career exploration applications and Internet resources, in the production of a written career plan.
