MATH 100 - Intermediate Algebra 3 Credits: (3 lecture)
Course Description This course is the study of real numbers and operations with polynomials. Other topics include linear equations and inequalities, systems of equations in two variables, solving equations by factoring, exponents, complex numbers, the quadratic formula, and rational equations. This course meets the General Education Competency of Quantitative Reasoning (QR).
Prerequisite Pass MATH 090 or MATH 091 with a “C” or better or appropriate score on placement test.

Objectives The student will be able to:
A. Identify sets of real numbers and use properties of real numbers.
B. Solve linear equations, linear inequalities and systems of linear equations.
C. Utilize the exponent rules for integer and rational exponents.
D. Add, subtract, multiply, divide and factor polynomials.
E. Simplify radical expressions and solve radical equations.
F. Graph relations and functions.
G. Use mathematical operations on rational expressions and solve rational equation.
H. Solve quadratic equations.

K. Solve equations using methods, rules or techniques. (QR)

Student Evaluation Objectives A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, and K will be evaluated using examinations, a departmental midterm, and a comprehensive departmental final examination. The comprehensive departmental final must be worth 20% of each student’s final grade.
