PKMT 102 - Recreation Leadership 3 Credits: (3 lecture)
Course Description This course is the study of group dynamics in park and recreation management. The emphasis is on the application of group process principles, leadership development, factors influencing team dynamics, and interpersonal skills. Students will apply classroom theory by participating in and leading group activities.
Note Fall semester only. Field trip required.

A. Describe and apply leadership techniques to a group setting.
B. Apply group management principles by leading an activity.
C. Discuss and identify personality traits of individuals within a group setting.
D. Demonstrate traits of effectiveleadership including ethical, social, moral, and communicative intelligence.
E. Identify techniques to manage and motivate an individual or team.
F. Use group management techniques to manage difficult behaviors.
G. Evaluate personal leadership strengths and weaknesses.
H. Participate in leadership activities and provide constructive feedback to the leader.

Student Evaluation Evaluation will be based upon examinations, assignments, attendance of field trips, and presentations.
