PKMT 212 - Park and Recreation Administration 3 Credits: (3 lecture)
Course Description This course focuses on management as a professional discipline within an organization. The study of management theories, organizational structure, agency policies, human resource management, fiscal management, information systems, and risk management are course components. Current management issues and trends will be explored as they relate to the workplace of today.
Note Fall semester only.
Prerequisite PKMT 104 or permission of instructor.

Objectives The student will be able to
A. Apply past and present management theories to today’s workplace environment.
B. Identify and list examples of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules and regulations of an agency.
C. Identify risk management methods used to prevent or minimize fiscal loses based upon liability claims.
D. Select the most qualified applicant for a position by ranking resumes and conducting personal interviews.
E. Identify responsibilities, duties, and other important functions of a board.
F. Develop a program budget.
G. Research current workplace management trends.

Student Evaluation Evaluation will be based upon examinations, assignments, projects, and presentations.
