SPAN 202 - Spanish IV 3 Credits: (3 lecture)
Course Description These courses are a review of the four language fundamentals through both oral and written patterns, drills, and tests. Included in the course will be the study of vocabulary peculiarities and idioms, syntax review with stress on problems in grammar, guided compositions and creative work both oral and written, and an introduction to Spanish and Latin American literature from the twelfth century to the present.
Note Spring semester only.
Prerequisite SPAN 201.

Objectives The student will be able to:
A. Continue to develop his/her ability to understand, speak, read and write Spanish correctly.
B. Discuss selected literary works that are representative of the culture.
C. Write both guided and simple compositions in idiomatic and grammatically correct Spanish.
D. Increase his/her command of and security in the language through review of grammatical structure and introduction of and drill with more complicated syntactical items.
Content A. Conversation and Pronunciation: Supplementary drills to increase both written and oral grammatical proficiency.
B. Grammar: Review of grammar based on exercises in text.
C. Reading and Writing: Vocabulary development through use of new words in meaningful contexts.
D. Introduction of literature with background material for each piece.
Student Evaluation Classroom participation, dictations, individual recitation, periodic tests on the application of grammatical principles and word differences, compositions, reports, resumes, critiques, and final examination.Bibliography de Castells, et al.
