COMP 121 - Introduction to Computer Applications 3 Credits: (3 lecture)
Course Description This course will introduce students to computer applications. Topics will include the College’s current Learning Management System (LMS), email, office applications with emphasis on Microsoft Word®, PowerPoint®, Excel® and Outlook®, Windows® file management, and search engines. This course meets the General Education competency of Technological Competence (TC).
Note Additional Materials: Access to a Windows computer capable of running Office 2019: Word®, PowerPoint®, Excel® and Outlook®. (Students can download these applications for free through their BC3 email account.) Online sections are required to have, and all other sections are recommended to have, a webcam and Respondus Lockdown Browser installed on their computer.
Text A minimum of four months of Cengage Unlimited, which will include access to the digital copy of the following textbook:

C. Manage email using Microsoft Outlook®. (TC)
D. Manage files and folders in the Microsoft Windows® operating system.
E. Identify the purpose of Microsoft Office® applications.
F. Create documents using Microsoft Word®. (TC)
G. Research a topic related to the student’s discipline using the Internet.
H. Create presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint®. (TC)
I. Manipulate spreadsheet data via formatting, formulas, functions, and charts using Excel®.
