COMP 279 - Cybersecurity II 3 Credits: (3 lecture)
Course Description This course will give students experience using various anti-hacking tools to make the network more secure. Students will explore and defend against network vulnerabilities and hacker exploits. The goal of this second cybersecurity course is to make students much more knowledgeable and well skilled in cybersecurity.
Note Spring semester only.
Prerequisite COMP 277.

Objectives The student will be able to:
A. Gather network information through reconnaissance, scanning, and enumeration to create countermeasures preventing malicious hacking.
B. Perform vulnerability assessments to make the network more secure.
C. Secure a network using data from penetration testing and system hacking.
D. Guard the network against malware and social engineering.
E. Defend the network against sniffers and denial of service (DoS) attacks.
F. Use intrusion detection systems (IDS) and firewalls to harden the network.
G. Stop attacks against a variety of network resources.
