BUSN 120 - Introduction to Entrepreneurship

3 Credits: (3 Lecture)

Course Description
This course introduces the student to the role of the entrepreneur in the 21st century global economy and provides the framework for the entrepreneurial process.  Topics include entrepreneurial behavior, opportunity recognition, types of business ownership, financial and market research, and product development.

Objectives
The student will be able to: 

A. Assess the entrepreneurial potential within oneself and others. 

B. Examine the role of entrepreneurship in the economy. 

C. Explore types of business ownership in terms of the business venture. 

D. Prepare a SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats). 

E. Conduct market research. 

F. Develop a feasibility study. 

G. Explain how social responsibility and ethics affect small business. 

H. Incorporate the technology life cycle into product development and design. 

I. Practice communication skills through teamwork, networking, and social media platforms.
