COMP 210 - Productivity Applications3 Credits: (3 lecture)
Course Description This course is designed to foster computer literacy. It introduces students to basic computing hardware, security, and productivity software. Through a hands-on approach, students will achieve a working knowledge of Windows, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and applications including Word™, Excel™, PowerPoint™, Outlook™, and Access™.This course meets the General Education competency of Technological Competence (TC).
Note Mac and Chromebook computers ARE NOT recommended for this course due to software required in the course. A computer with a current WINDOWS operating system is highly recommended for off-campus work.
Prerequisite ENGL 101 eligible.
Text A minimum of four months of Cengage Unlimited, which will include access to the digital copy of the following textbook:

Objectives The student will be able to:
A. Evaluate information found on the Internet.
B. Manage files and folders in a Windows operating system environment.
C. Utilize word processing software to create and format documents. (TC)
D. Manipulate spreadsheet data via formatting, formulas, functions, and charts. (TC)
E. Assess email messages for clarity, professionalism, and correct recipient usage. (TC)
F. Describe hardware components in each of the 5 basic categories: Input, Processing, Output, Storage, and Communication.
G. Identify security measures to protect computers and data.
H. Utilize presentation software to create and format slides. (TC)
I. Create database tables, forms, queries, and reports. (TC)
J. Discuss fundamental AI terms, concepts, and generative tools.
