ENGL 031 - Strategies for College Reading and Writing2 Credits: 2 lecture
Course Description The course is designed for students requiring skill review and support for success in English 101 College Writing. It is an integrated study of reading strategies and college-level composition skills.
Corequisite ENGL 101 with same instructor based on placement test scores.

Objectives The student will be able to:
A. Integrate a variety of reading strategies when analyzing texts.
B. Interpret texts critically.
C. Format a review (book, movie, album, anthology, memoir, etc.).
D. Use the conventions of Standard American English as presented in the current handbook to eliminate errors.

B. Text analysis strategies
C. Review format (book, movie, album, anthology, memoir, etc.)
D. Current Standard American English guidelines for MLA formatting, diction, syntax, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
