RADT 111 - Radiologic Technology with Clinical II

7 Credits: 4 Lecture hours per week 3 hours lab, 16 hours clinical/week

Course Description
This course expands on radiologic theory and clinical practice, focusing on advanced imaging concepts and procedures. Students explore the control of image characteristics, the use of radiographic accessories, complex skeletal positioning, radiography of non-osseous systems, and complementary imaging modalities. Clinical experience emphasizes advanced procedures of the skull and thorax, with students expected to analyze and apply factors that influence radiographic quality while manipulating those factors in practice. Learning takes place under the direct supervision of certified technologists and radiologists.

Objectives
The student will be able to:

A. Apply radiographic anatomy for all X-ray procedures performed.

B. Manipulate radiographic equipment for complex procedures, including proper use of radiographic accessories.

C. Optimize complex technical factors to produce high-quality diagnostic images.

D. Critique radiographs for image contrast, recorded detail, and overall quality.

E. Apply principles of analog and digital imaging, including processing latent images into visible images.

F. Employ appropriate radiation protection measures for patients, staff, and self across all clinical scenarios.

G. Solve patient care questions and provide safe, effective patient management under supervision of qualified staff.

H. Generate required X-ray reports and document imaging procedures according to clinical protocols.

Content
