NURS 106 - Preparation for NCLEX-RN1 Credits: 3
Course Description This course is designed to foster the development of critical thinking skills of those preparing for professional nursing. Participants will explore study and test preparation, strategies for National Council Licensure Examination - RN (NCLEX-RN) success, and review nursing concepts related to Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) competencies and the NCLEX-RN blueprint. Utilizing test taking, clinical judgement and clinical reasoning skills to answer all types of question formats.
Prerequisite NURS 101 completion and/or student returning to NURS 101 or NURS 135

Objectives The student will be able to:

- Organize basic nursing knowledge that has been previously learned.
- Review nursing concepts covered throughout the nursing program.
- Identify strengths and weaknesses in the knowledge of nursing concepts and develop a plan to improve understanding of weak areas of knowledge.
- Develop test-taking skills applicable to standardized testing.
- Apply clinical reasoning and test-taking strategies with confidence to accurately interpret and answer NCLEX-style questions.

- Study skills and test preparation
- Strategies for successfully answering NCLEX style questions.
- Review of nursing concepts related to QSEN Competencies and the NCLEX-RN blueprint.
- Review of Next Generation NCLEX Clinical Judgment Model and Next Generation style NCLEX question types.
