Workplace Certificate

The Energy Technology Workplace Certificate (ETWC) provides students with a fundamental understanding of today’s emerging energy environment.  The ETWC will address the technical human resource needs of the rapidly developing shale industry.  Students will be prepared to meet the growing employment demands in the areas of Exploration, Drilling, Natural Gas Processing and Pipeline Construction.  Students who successfully complete the ETWC can expect to meet many of the educational requirements for positions such as Landman, Construction Project Technician, Materials Procurement Agent, Environmental Waste Technician, Electronics Technician, and Equipment Maintenance Technician as well as numerous clerical and support positions.

NOTE: Courses listed in the first/third semester will be scheduled for the fall; courses listed in the second/fourth semester will be scheduled for the spring. Students are encouraged to use the curriculum planner to keep track of courses taken and those still needed. In some cases, one or more courses may be taken in a different order than indicated on the planner. However, individual course prerequisites must be observed.

Prerequisites/Corequisites: Some courses require another course to be taken beforehand or at the same time. To check if a course has a prerequisite or corequisite, see the course description.

1 College Algebra (MATH 101) may be substituted for Technical Mathematics I (MATH 117).

2 College Writing (ENGL 101) may be substituted for Technical Writing I (ENGL 110).
