Associate in Applied Science Degree
Students in this program will acquire skills in Microsoft® Office applications, medical terminology, insurance billing and coding, front office duties, and office procedures. A graduate of this program seeks employment as a secretary or administrative assistant in a medical environment.
In addition, students can earn a Medical Coding Specialist Certificate by meeting the requirements for a second major. A minimum of nine additional credits must be approved in advance by the Dean of Business. Successful completion of this program may potentially lead to professional licensure. Licensure may be global, national, or state-specific. This program meets requirements for the State of Pennsylvania. Requirements for other states may vary.
Courses listed in the first/third semester will be scheduled for the fall; second/fourth semester courses will be scheduled for the spring.
Program Competencies
The student/graduate will be able to:
- Accurately key, format, and edit business documents.
- Perform administrative office procedures in a medical/business setting.
- Create a professional portfolio illustrating personal competency skills acquired in the Office Administration program.
- Demonstrate word processing proficiency.
