Associate in Applied Science Degree
Students in this program will acquire skills in Microsoft® Office applications, medical terminology, insurance billing and coding, front office duties, and office procedures. A graduate of this program seeks employment as a secretary or administrative assistant in a medical environment.
In addition, students can earn a Medical Coding Specialist Certificate by meeting the requirements for a second major. A minimum of nine additional credits must be approved in advance by the Dean of Business. Successful completion of this program may potentially lead to professional licensure/certification. Licensure/certification may be global, national, or state-specific. This program meets requirements for the State of Pennsylvania. Requirements for other states may vary.
Courses listed in the first/third semester will be scheduled for the fall; second/fourth semester courses will be scheduled for the spring.
Program Competencies
The student/graduate will be able to:
- Accurately key, format, and edit business documents.
- Perform administrative office procedures in a medical/business setting.
- Create a professional portfolio illustrating personal competency skills acquired in the Office Administration program.
- Demonstrate word processing proficiency.
