CNC Programming Technology (040)
Workplace Certificate

This program provides the foundational technical state-of-the-art skills needed for computer numerical control (CNC) programming. Applied mathematics, CNC programming, problem solving, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) skills are acquired. The core courses will transfer into the Applied Industrial Technology associate degree program. This program will provide CNC advancement opportunities and job opportunities as a CNC machinist, CNC programmer, or CNC service representative.

NOTE: Courses listed in the first/third semester will be scheduled for the fall; courses listed in the second/fourth semester will be scheduled for the spring. Students are encouraged to use the curriculum planner to keep track of courses taken and those still needed. In some cases, one or more courses may be taken in a different order than indicated on the planner. However, individual course prerequisites must be observed.

Students advancing on to an associate degree are encouraged to take Technical Math I (MATH 117) or College Algebra (MATH 101).

Students advancing on to an associate degree are encouraged to take Technical Graphics with AutoCAD (DRFT120).

*NIMS Credentials to satisfy the Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Programming (MECH 114) requirements include:  Measurement, Materials and Safety (MMS), CNC Milling-Setup/Programming, and CNC Turning-Setup/Programming Level I credentials.

 *NIMS Credentials to satisfy the Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) Programming (MECH 115) requirements include:  Measurement, Materials and Safety (MMS), CNC Milling & Turning Setup/Programming Level 1 and CNC Milling and Turning Level II credentials.

 Students advancing on to an associate degree are encouraged to take College Writing (ENGL 101).

* Butler County Community College does not offer coursework that leads to NIMS certifications.
