Emergency Services - Police Services Option (265A)
Associate in Applied Science Degree
The Police Services Option under Emergency Services leads to an AAS Degree. Students will receive Act 120 Certification off campus as well as criminology courses at the college. They will be employable as police patrol officers; security guards; detectives and investigators; correction officers and jailers; and criminal investigators. Successful completion of this program may potentially lead to professional licensure/certification. Licensure/certification may be global, national, or state-specific. This program meets requirements for the State of Pennsylvania. Requirements for other states may vary.
Program Competencies
The student/graduate will be able to:
- Identify the principles of criminal procedures with a particular emphasis on federal constitutional limitations.
- Classify crime terminology aligned to the Pennsylvania Crimes Code.
- Apply crime and justice system methodology by using appropriate field-related terminology.

Fourth Semester (15)
Act 120 Certification 15 credits 2 Note(s):
1 The Math elective must be taken from the listing in Group III.
2 Students will receive fifteen credit hours for completion of approved ACT 120 Certification. Criteria for the acceptance of such training may be obtained from the Dean of Admissions and College Registrar or from the Dean for Humanities and Social Sciences. Depending on availability and location of ACT 120 Certification, the student may opt to take sooner than fourth semester.
