The Nursing Program at Butler County Community College is a three semester academically and clinically based program that prepares the graduate to provide direct care to individual clients and their families; and to function as an effective member of the health care team. The graduate is educated to be a contributing member of the discipline of nursing as well as a nurse of continuous learning and self-development. Graduates are eligible to take the licensing examination for licensed practical nurses (NCLEX-PN). The program prepares the graduate for employment as a licensed practical nurse in a variety of community-based health care settings including hospitals, long-term care facilities, and other comparable agencies. Admission requirement: Must have a chemistry with lab within the last 5 years. If not, recommend Chem 100 (Descriptive Chemistry) be taken prior to application submission.
Successful completion of this program may potentially lead to professional licensure/certification. Licensure/certification may be global, national, or state-specific. This program meets requirements of 1500 hours per the State of Pennsylvania for the Practical Nurse Act. Requirements for other states may vary.
