Associate in Applied Science Degree

This program provides practical and theoretical knowledge in the area of human resource management for those presently employed and those who desire initial training in preparation for employment in the field.  Courses provide skill development in all facets of human resource operations and communications, with an emphasis in employment law, labor relations, strategic leadership management, staffing, training and development, compensation and current human resource issues. The student will also develop the basic computer skills needed by supervisors.  A graduate of this program may seek employment as a Human Resource Office Administrator, Compensation Analyst, Employee Relations Manager, Organizational Development Specialist, Payroll Specialist, Recruiter, Staffing Specialist and Training Coordinator. NOTE: Students enrolled in BUSN 213, HRM Internship, may be required by their internship site employer to sign a confidentiality agreement and/or pass a criminal background check.

1 Any Mathematics course that is taken as a part of the requirements in any Business Program must be taken concurrently with or prior to Survey of Accounting (ACCT 110) or Financial Accounting (ACCT 203).

a Business Math (BUSN 121) is recommended.  However, any MATH 100 or higher will be considered for substitution.

b Any Natural Science with the appropriate MATH prerequisite will be considered for substitution.

The student is encouraged to use the curriculum planner to keep track of courses taken and those still needed.  In some cases, one or more courses may be taken in a different order than indicated on the planner.  However, individual course prerequisites must be observed.  Program advising is strongly encouraged.
