The Nursing Program at Butler County Community College is a three semester academically and clinically based program that prepares the graduate to provide direct care to individual clients and their families; and to function as an effective member of the health care team. The graduate is educated to be a contributing member of the discipline of nursing as well as a nurse of continuous learning and self-development. Graduates are eligible to take the licensing examination for licensed practical nurses (NCLEX-PN). The program prepares the graduate for employment as a licensed practical nurse in a variety of community-based health care settings including hospitals, long-term care facilities, and other comparable agencies. Admission requirement: Must have a chemistry with lab within the last 5 years. If not, recommend Chem 100 (Descriptive Chemistry) be taken prior to application submission.
This program meets requirements of 1500 hours per the State of Pennsylvania for the Practical Nurse Act. Requirements for other states may vary. Students who choose this track are not eligible for the BC3 LPN to RN program. Students may qualify for the Advanced Standing LPN to RN program.
