Associate in Applied Science Degree

This program is designed to provide students with the essential skills and knowledge needed to excel in both human resource functions and in administrative support positions. Graduates of the program would be equipped with the tools to efficiently handle human resource responsibilities while also managing office functions, making them highly adaptable and valuable in various professional settings. The curriculum emphasizes key areas such as labor relations, staffing, training and development, compensation management, and employee relations as well as support skills such as virtual collaboration tools, word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software. A graduate of this program may seek employment as an Office Manager, Human Resource Office Assistant, Generalist or Specialist, Compensation and Benefits Specialist, Employee Relations Manager, Recruiter, Staffing Specialist, and Training Coordinator.

NOTE: Students enrolled in BUSN 213 may be required by their internship site employer to sign a confidentiality agreement and/or pass a criminal background check.

1 Any Mathematics course that is taken as a part of the requirements in any Business Program must be taken concurrently with or prior to Survey of Accounting (ACCT 110) or Financial Accounting (ACCT 203).

a Business Math (BUSN 121) is recommended.  However, any MATH 100 or higher will be considered for substitution.

The student is encouraged to use the curriculum planner to keep track of courses taken and those still needed.  In some cases, one or more courses may be taken in a different order than indicated on the planner.  However, individual course prerequisites must be observed.  Program advising is strongly encouraged.
