Secondary Education (103)
Associate in Science Degree

The Associate in Science Degree in Education is designed to provide the basic coursework necessary for transfer to a baccalaureate program at a four-year institution. The state of Pennsylvania has stringent teacher certification guidelines; therefore, the College recommends that all students adhere to the planner requirements. Since four-year colleges and universities determine which courses are acceptable in transfer, it is essential for all students to contact their chosen transfer institution to verify course acceptance. Graduates in the associate program can seek employment in the education field as teacher assistants or teacher aides.

NOTE: Courses listed in the first/third semester will be scheduled for the fall; second/fourth semester courses will be scheduled for the spring. The student is encouraged to use the curriculum planner to keep track of courses taken and those still needed. In some cases, one or more courses may be taken in a different order than indicated on the planner. However, individual course prerequisites must be observed.

Prerequisites/Corequisites – Some courses require another course be taken beforehand or at the same time. To check if a course has a prerequisite or corequisite, see the course description.

Minimum - 62 credits

English Concentration (28)/63 Total

Note(s):

1 First Aid and Safety should be taken in the second year of the program or within a year of transfer to the four-year institution.
