Associate in Applied Science Degree
This program provides fundamentals to enable a student to practice as civil engineering and construction technicians and civil drafting specialists, and allows them to pursue lifelong learning. Skills are developed in mathematics, science, problem solving, communication, computer-aided drafting, surveying, mechanics, and construction. Computer-aided drafting is an integral part of this program. The concepts of surveying with GPS and civil drafting using GIS are introduced. A graduate of this program seeks employment as a civil drafter, surveying technician, estimator, and civil engineering technician with civil engineering firms, construction firms, private consulting engineering firms, governmental agencies, and surveying firms.
NOTE: Courses listed in the first/third semester will be scheduled for the fall; second/fourth semester courses will be scheduled for the spring. The student is encouraged to use the curriculum planner to keep track of courses taken and those still needed. In some cases, one or more courses may be taken in a different order than indicated on the planner. However, individual course prerequisites must be observed.
