MACH 111 - Lathe I 3 credits (1 lecture, 4 lab) This course is designed to provide the student with basic skills in the use of the metal lathe, its parts and applications. Classroom and laboratory activities will include straight turning, facing, single point threading, turning with stock held in chucks and between centers. Students will turn parts to specification while observing appropriate safety procedures.
Prerequisites/Corequisites: DRFT 114.
This course can be completed by obtaining the following National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) certification skills: Turning Operations–turning chucking skills and turning between centers (Machining Level I Standard).
Butler County Community College does not offer coursework that leads to NIMS certification.
