Technical Trades - Massage Therapy Management Option (314D)
Associate in Applied Science

This program prepares massage therapists for managment careers in the Massage industry.  The curriculum enables students to receive credit for their NCMTMB massage certification or completion of the BC3 Massage Therapy Program while being offered theoretical management and marketing skills required to successfully own and/or manage a massage therapy business.  Courses provide skill development in all facets of managing a massage business and salesmanship, with emphasis in customer service and communication skills.  Typical employment positions are massage/salon/spa owner, massage/salon/spa manager, sales consultant, manufacturer sales representative, or distributor’s sales representative.  Student must be certified in CPR in the American Heart Association:  Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers or American Red Cross:  Basic Life Support for The Professional Rescuer.

NOTE: Courses listed in the first/third semester will be scheduled in the fall; second/forth semester courses will be scheduled in the spring. The student is encouraged to use the curriculum planner to keep track of courses taken and those still needed. In some cases, one or more courses may be taken in a different order than indicated on the planner. However, individual course prerequisites must be observed.

Fourth Semester (17)


Program Prerequisites


High School graduate or GED, High School Biology or BIOL 115 or BIOL 101 with minimum grade of “C” within the last five years.

Massage Therapy courses can only be taken once accepted to the Massage Therapy Program.

Notes:


The Massage Therapy course work must be taken in sequence indicated.  NCBTMB Certification or completed program. 

1 Must be taken before or with MTPY 101.

2 Must be taken before or with MTPY 102.

3 Business Math must be taken prior to or concurrently with Basic Accounting/Accounting I.
