Manufacturing with Advanced Technology (341)
Associate in Applied Science Degree

This program prepares students to be technical problem solvers in industry. Students learn and apply skills and techniques used in advanced technology manufacturing systems to convert materials into useful products. Through their technical electives, students can achieve an emphasis in one of the following areas: Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Programming, Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) applications, Engineering Technology, Quality/Planning, and Electronics. Employment opportunities for the graduate include positions such as Manufacturing Technician, Production Planner, Quality Assurance Technician, Technical Service Representative, Robotic Technician, or Manufacturing Associate Manager.

NOTE: Courses listed in the first/third semester will be scheduled for the fall; second/fourth semester courses will be scheduled for the spring. The student is encouraged to use the curriculum planner to keep track of courses taken and those still needed. In some cases, one or more courses may be taken in a different order than indicated on the planner. However, individual course prerequisites must be observed.

1 Calculus I and II (MATH 221, MATH 222), College Algebra (MATH101) and Trigonometry & Functions (MATH102), or Elementary
Functions (MATH 108) and Calculus I (MATH 221) may be substituted for Technical Mathematics I and II (MATH 117, MATH 118).

2 Chemistry I (CHEM 101) may be substituted for Descriptive Chemistry (CHEM 112).

3 Technical Emphasis Electives include: 3-D Geometric Modeling (DRFT 108), Programming in C++ for Engineers (COMP 230),
Digital Electronics (ELEC 225), CNC Programming I (MECH 120), CNC Programming II (MECH 121), Fluids (MECH 210), Physics II (PHYS 102), Statistics and SPC (MATH 110), Machine Drafting with CADD (DRFT 102), Tool and Die Design (MECH 211), Production Planning and Controlling (MECH 131), or Cooperative Education Experience I (COOP 101).

NOTE: Faculty Advisor must approve choice of Technical Emphasis Elective.
