Associate in Applied Science Degree
The curriculum provides experience in working with microcomputer hardware, operating system software, application software and networking fundamentals. Graduates of this program may seek employment as Computer Technician, Support Specialist, Computer Support Specialist, Help Desk Analyst, Technical Support Specialist, or Computer Specialist. Employees in such positions would install, upgrade, and troubleshoot microcomputer software and hardware and assist users in working with microcomputer hardware and software problems, network communications and printing issues.
Program Competencies
The student/graduate will be able to:
- Illustrate essential computer skills by managing, maintaining, troubleshooting, installing, and configuring basic personal computer hardware components.
- Demonstrate competency in system security, network infrastructure, access control, and organizational security.
- Illustrate essential computer skills by managing, maintaining, troubleshooting, installing, and configuring a variety of personal computer client operating systems.
- Illustrate essential computer skills by managing, maintaining, troubleshooting, installing, and configuring basic network infrastructure.

Note(s):
1 Introduction to Microcomputing (COMP 210) or successful completion of exemption test is the prerequisite for COMP 242.
2 Introduction to Micrcomputing (COMP 210) cannot be used as the computer elective.
