FIRE 103 - Introduction to Fire Apparatus 3 credits (3 lecture) This course provides a brief history of the earliest fire units to modern designs. Study of specific uses, new design developments and the requirements for specific apparatus will lead the student to be able to develop specifications for the purchase of fire apparatus. Investigation and examination of components, including chassis, cab, pumps, custom bodywork and aerial devices, will be explored. The student will participate in design specification sessions and will have the opportunity to review features that may be pertinent to particular apparatus or regional idiosyncrasies. Prerequisite(s): Introduction to Fire Science or permission of instructor or dean.
