Emergency Services - EMS Option, A.A.S.


Emergency Services - EMS Option (265B)
Associate in Applied Science Degree

This program prepares the student for an entry-level management position in the health care environment. The program includes courses in business, management, accounting, computer science, and anatomy and physiology. A separate course in Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is also required in  the last semester. Employment opportunities are in hospital emergency departments, ambulance services, and similar positions. Courses listed in the first/third semester will be scheduled in the fall;  second/fourth semester courses will be scheduled in the spring.

NOTE: Courses listed in the first/third semester will be scheduled for the fall; second/fourth semester courses will be scheduled for the spring. The student is encouraged to use the curriculum planner to keep track of courses taken and those still needed. In some cases, one or more courses may be taken in a different order than indicated on the planner. However, individual course prerequisites must be observed.

1 Any Mathematics course that is taken as part of the requirements in any Business Program must be taken concurrently with or prior to taking Financial Accounting (ACCT 203).

2 Students will receive 7 credit hours toward the completion of the degree for an approved EMT certification. Guidelines for the acceptance of the certification can be obtained from the Director of Records and Registration.
