Paramedic, A.A.S.

Associate in Applied Science Degree

The BC3 Paramedic Associate Degree Program builds upon the knowledge and skills acquired through completion of the Paramedic Certificate Program.  For the Paramedic A.A.S. Degree, the student must complete additional courses related to BC3’s Institutional Degree Requirements (IDR’s). The graduate of the BC3 Paramedic A.A.S. Degree Program can seek employment as a multi-skilled practitioner, who is qualified to perform administrative, supervisory and clinical skills within Emergency Medical Services. 

Prerequisites are a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent, a GPA of 2.0 or better in either high school or college, 18 years of age upon enrollment, current on all immunizations, current Pennsylvania EMT/Basic certification, and current CPR Healthcare Provider course completion, as well as Act 34/151 clearances.  Students must earn a “C” or better in all courses in the curriculum to graduate.

This course has been approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Health as meeting the educational course requirement that an applicant for certification as a/an Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic needs to satisfy to be certified by the Pennsylvania Department of Health as a/an Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic.

NOTE: Courses listed in the first/third semester will be scheduled for the fall; second/fourth semester courses will be scheduled for the spring. The student is encouraged to use the curriculum planner to keep track of courses taken and those still needed. In some cases, one or more courses may be taken in a different order than indicated on the planner. However, individual course prerequisites must be observed.
